GRINDERS COFFEE FLAGSHIP.

IMMERSIVE MULTI-DISCIPLINARY DESIGN

Grinders has been an integral innovator in the Australian coffee industry since 1962; and it all started when Giancarlo opened the flagship all those years ago at 277 Lygon Street.

To reengage with the historical signficance of the brand, and to reinforce credibility within an every changing and evolving competitive industry, Grinders embarked on a brand refresh in 2016. This included the Best. Design to Life team being selected to partner on a new physical brand experience and creation of an Australian flagship on Lygon Street.

The multidisciplinary design team worked with the Grinders team from retail customer experience strategy, human movement and zoning definition, design documentation right through to construction of the site in only 3 months.

The final material palette is a symphony of parts that culminate in a rich, immersive, and accessible designed experience that respects the true essence of coffee, and indeed, the Grinders brand.

This project was awarded SILVER for Hospitality Design in the Melbourne Design Awards 2016.
